As the American Collegiate Rowing Association Championship Regatta draws near, and plans solidify, one thing remains clear: The team isn’t going to make it without some extra funds. That is why we are announcing an emergency funds drive, with the realistic goal of $1,000.

Johns Hopkins Invitational 2008

Varsity Four at Johns Hopkins Invitational Regatta

Heavy chop made for some interesting racing today in Baltimore’s Patapsco River Basin. In the heats, the V8+ rowed through 1 foot chop to take third–which got them a place in the petite finals. In the petite finals, three seat rower Myles Reid had an equipment malfunction at 500 meters in, which left him without footstretchers. Rowing man down, the V8 was still able to take third of four.

The four consisted of (from bow) Sara Ginolfi (coxswain), Matt Kikosicki, Derek Miller, Peter Frechette, and Aleks Malorodov (stroke). This crew took home the gold in their event.

One novice 8+ won their heat, and finished fourth in the finals.

Heads up for our next regatta this Saturday and Sunday, on The Cooper River. The Knecht Cup is hosted by the Villanova University Women’s Crew, and draws over 50 competing schools “from California to Maine, Wisconsin to Florida.” (event website)
