Philadelphia’s Head of the Schuylkill Regatta CANCELLED!

It seems that the regatta has been cursed by bad weather and the effects thereof. Citing too much debris in the river due to the four days of rain prior to the regatta, officials cancelled the regatta the morning of. Last year, it was too cold and windy.

Novice 4+ Medals at Occoquan Chase

The tide was very low at Sandy Run Regional Park as the novice four with coxswain rowed the course in 17:38.28 to place third.

MD Crew’s Performance Heralded at Head of the Ohio

In an October 10th article in The Pitt News, staff writer Zack Chakan wrote “The elite squad throughout the Head of the Ohio was undoubtedly the team from the University of Maryland -which was at or near the top in nearly every event they entered.”

MD Crew’s First Appearance at Pittsburgh’s Head of the Ohio

For the first time in the team’s history, both the men and women’s MD crew teams competed at Pittsburg’s Head of the Ohio. The 4300 meter race course runs under nine bridges on the Allegheny River where it meets the Monongahela River. The novices swept the novice eight event with 1st, 2nd and 4th. The novice four took first in their event. The men’s lightweight eight took first in their event, and the varsity heavyweight eight took second in the open heavy eight.

Whereas the venue was a spacious one, and the experience was brand new, good times were had by all. Thanks to the parents who were able to make it out, and bring food
