Typically, when you think of beautiful beaches, Maryland is not at the forefront of your thoughts. You may want to change that mentality after hearing about some of their best beaches. If you are in the DC metro area, leave the city.
Your first stop should be at Ocean City Beach in Ocean City. The beautiful sandy beaches are stellar, and Ocean City has a lot of things to do and see such as yoga and movies on the beach. Avenue, Maryland, is home to the Westerly Town Beach. This beach is family friendly, and far more relaxing than lively Ocean City. If you are looking for something even more remote and relaxing, go to Assateague Island National Seashore.
Assateague Island National Seashore is incredibly natural and rustic. You will find wild ponies and an array of bird life. It is a great place for clamming; however, you will not find accommodation on the island. If you are looking for something with a bit of history, head over to Point Lookout State Park. It is a historic site, and located on the Chesapeake Bay. It is a great place for camping, swimming, and beautifully picturesque. Maryland has many more beach options. Enjoy them all.
